Mexico

It's been a month now that we went to Cabo Pulmo by the Sea of Cortez in Mexico, but better late than never. Here then a few pictures with some delay.

Cabo Pulmo is a little village on the coast of the Mexican state Baja California. Three years ago, we spent a very happy Thanksgiving in Cabo Pulmo. The snorkeling was great, the fish tacos wonderful, the weather fantastic. This time, we had planned to go during October, but Hurricane Norbert was approaching at the same time as we were supposed to arrive (see some older posts). So, we pushed everything back to the end of November - and ended up having not such great weather. There was a bit too much wind for the water to ever settle down. Consequently the visibility for snorkeling was not that great. We still had a great time and had at least a few good dives.

Cabo Pulmo is a green village. Almost all the power in the bungalows, like the one we stayed in (photo), is generated by solar cells.

Emily always says that the bungalows are only a notch over camping, which might be a slight exeggeration. At least here, I can stand upright! But it is fairly simple, which is absolutely wonderful.

One of the best things about Cabo Pulmo is that life there is very easy - and very slow. There is always time to take a break, since all you have to do really is get into the sea to watch fish or walk over to the fish taco place for lunch or a beer at night.

At times, you get visited by the locals, who would very much love to invite themselves for dinner...

... and they might remind you of that when you run into them somewhere in the village during your late-night digestion walk.

Cabo Pulmo is worth a visit. Not sure that it is worth three visits, so this may have been our last time there. But it certainly is a great little place in the Mexican middle of nowhere by the Sea of Cortez.
