Oliver's talk at FCCB

Oliver gave a talk at the First Congregational Church of Berkeley (FCCB) today. The church is in a big building and we explored around a little before the service. Here is a hallway hung with pictures of Ministers from the past. The FCCB can trace its roots to 1874, when the first service was held on the corner of Telegraph Avenue and Bancroft Way.

The talk was well attended and I was impressed with the audience's stamina through all the philosophical parts - there was surprisingly little snoozing! But I guess it is Berkeley after all, and they eat intellectualism with their cornflakes in the morning.

I am always struck with the language that pervades religious spaces. Here is a sign with the names of the rooms on the bottom floor of the building. They have restrooms, and, they have a Sheepfold room.
