Last weekend lightning strikes set more than 800 fires across Northern California (fortunately none are directly around us). The fires have created a smoky haze in the sky and the light has a weird pink sheen to it. You can smell the smoke when you go outside.
Here is a picture of the sun shining through the haze. We've been advised to stay indoors and limit outdoor activity in order to avoid breathing in the smoky air. Sadly that means no swimming for me tonight. Hopefully the fire fighters will be able to get the fires under control soon.
