After lunch we walked through the Castro. We passed by our old apartment, which now houses our upstairs neighbor's mother who is sick. We are really happy that our move out enabled our neighbors to have their mother close by so they can care for her. We also went to Cliff's Variety (hardware store) and got two errands done that have been hovering around: spare keys made (I got locked out of the apartment the other week and we thought having a spare might help prevent that in the future) and new trash bag liners for our fancy-yuppie-trash-can-that-only-accepts-very-specific-trash-can-liners. But which are very easy to come by in the Castro. I love/miss the Castro.
Oh, and it was Pride weekend. But we were too busy being nostalgic to pay much attention to the impending festivities.

Weekend in the old neighborhood
On Saturday we headed back to our old neighborhood - the Castro - in San Francisco. We walked through the Mission District and had lunch at our favorite cafe. Oliver really misses the cafe. He used to go there every afternoon to work and read and always got a lot done there. And, Oli being Oli, he met a lot of interesting people too ;) The latest being a recent transplant and ex-screenwriter from L.A. (even though we don't live there any more, he still visits the cafe from time to time).
