Peaches

A man in our neighborhood has peach trees behind his house that are going bonkers. He keeps bringing over bagloads of peaches to my next door neighbors: the nuns. And then the nuns pass some of them on to me. They are delicious and I've been eating three in a sitting. But the last bag was ~15 peaches, all very ripe, and since it is just me (Oli is in Edinburgh) there is no way I was going to be able to eat them in time. The solution? Peach and Berry Crisp. One for me and one for the nuns (the nuns claim they don't know how to bake, and so are relegated to eating raw peaches. I took pity on them...)

First, the bounty:
The interesting thing about peaches is their fuzzy skin...which needs removing. Hence Peach Production Line 1: blanching the peaches to increase skin-sliding-offedness

Then, there is the sliding off of skins, and the slicing of now very slippery peaches. Peach Production Line 2:

Which produced 8 cups of peach slices

Which I turned into to 2 peach and berry crisps (Shown here pre-oven)

And post-oven:

And into my bowl. Yum!
The nuns seemed very pleased when I presented them with their crisp. I'm pretty sure I've got some hail marys going for me tonight ;)
