Apartment hunting in the Sunset

Our friends are moving from Berkeley to San Francisco and we looked at apartments with them today in the Sunset District - which is out by the ocean near Golden Gate Park. It was nice to look at some apartments without the pressure of having to find one. The rental market changes here quite often and so it is good to try and keep up with it by looking to see what is out there and what is being asked for it. Currently 1 BR rentals go for about $2000/mo. On the flip side, because of the housing market bust, you can also buy a 1BR apt and end up with a monthly mortgage payment of just under $2000/mo.
